Maple Ave House | Austin

remodel (completed 2021)

Project Type: single family
Size: 1,700 sf
Role: independent architect

This project was the first to be permitted in the newly formed Historic District in East Austin, built in the 1960’s for Black professionals. The inherited condition of this structure was a gut remodel with crumbling masonry from previous developers. With a reconfiguration of the interior layout and tactful edits to the façade, this home was updated to suit a young family.

Purpose | NYC

interior architecture (completed)

Project Type: budget office
Size: 15,000 sf
Role: designer (A+I)
Photograph: Magda Biernat

This loft in the Flatiron district was originally a sweatshop above a department store with windows over six feet high so workers would have light, but were unable to see out. A century later, our team at A+I rehumanized the space by creating elevated and accessible team rooms and a budget-conscious office space for an agency that builds and supports activist movements.
